Before You Change Job: Things to Consider

Written by soundnigerianjobs
People generally have the belief that when one changes job, he must be growing career wise. This is not always the case. If you are thinking about changing your jobs, there are certain things you need to know or resolve. This article is to provide a sort of checklists for you so that you can assess whether your decision to leave your current job is worthwhile or not.

Ask yourself why you want to change job
This is the starting point. You need to be sincere and truthful to yourself. Why do you want to leave your current job? Some leave their jobs for different reasons. Below are some of these reasons:
1. Crave for bigger pay cheques
2. Peers influence
3. Difficult boss
4. Unfriendly working environment
5. Expectations not met
6. Unfulfilled promises
7. Company’s poor performance etc
Why exactly do you want to leave? Is your reason justifiable or you just want to leave because your friends changed jobs? If you are unable to identify exactly why you want to leave a job, there is likelihood of making a wrong decision.

How and when is your bonus paid?

But if what the new company is offering you could pay off for the lost bonus, it could be reasonable to accept the offer. There may be other reasons which may not be monetary which can equally make you to accept such offer especially when you have been able to clearly define why you need to change your current job.

Consider Your Leave Period
Traditionally, a new staff will not be entitled to annual leave until he has worked for a period of twelve months in the company. Therefore, you need to consider this very well; otherwise, the stress of working for a long period without a break can have negative effects on your health. It is usually said that health is wealth. Your health should be your utmos
